Promicef tazo 562.5 mg injection contains ceftriaxone and tazobactum. Ceftriaxone is an antibiotic of the third-generation cephalosporin group. Ceftriaxone has both gram-negative and gram-positive activities. Not absorbed after oral administration. Ceftriaxone crosses the placental barrier but no adverse effect to offsprings has been noted. Ceftriaxone level is much higher in CSF in case of meningitis. Tazobactum is useful in case of B-lactamase resistant bacterial infections.
